What it is
Oral semaglutide, brand name Rybelsus, is the only FDA-approved oral GLP-1 receptor agonist. Doses are 3mg, 7mg, and 14mg, taken once daily on an empty stomach.
Why the spread exists
Oral semaglutide carries patent protection through 2031 in the US. International listings reflect the same Novo Nordisk product sold at country-set pricing tiers. The cash-pay gap is narrower than for injectable semaglutide because the dosage form is harder to substitute.
Brand vs generic
No generic oral semaglutide exists. All international listings we track are brand Rybelsus at different country prices. Compounded oral semaglutide does not exist in any registered form.
Regulatory status
Rybelsus is a prescription-only medication in all jurisdictions we track. Not a controlled substance.
International generic price is the median of at least three independent licensed retail listings. We do not endorse any single vendor; we treat each as a price observation. Listed below for transparency.

Publisher's note. Rx Price Tracker is funded by PHARMAX, one of the international pharmacies whose prices we publish on this page. PHARMAX does not control which molecules we cover, which competitors we include, or which corrections we issue. Every price observation links to its source URL and capture date. The data is reproducible. We track the gap because pricing transparency works in any direction.
